How often do you feed citrus trees? And when?

Hi Anna, great question! So for citrus trees you’ll want to feed them regularly, especially during their active growing season. Typically, it’s best to fertilize them every 6-8 weeks from early spring through summer. Citrus trees are heavy feeders, so using a good quality, citrus-specific fertilizer is important to support fruit development and overall health.

Start feeding them in early spring when new growth begins, and continue throughout the summer. You can ease off in autumn, and during winter, you generally don’t need to fertilize unless you’re in a particularly warm climate where the trees grow year-round.

Also, it’s a good idea to apply mulch around the base of your citrus tree to retain moisture and help improve soil quality.
