Ahh ok, they should give you a decent supply before giving up, so here are a few things you could check…
1.Light: Herbs need plenty of sunlight. Most herbs require at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. If your herbs aren’t getting enough natural light, consider using a grow light.
2.Watering: Overwatering is a common issue. Herbs generally prefer to dry out between waterings. Make sure the pots have good drainage and avoid letting the soil stay soggy.
3.Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix designed for herbs. Regular garden soil can compact in pots and restrict root growth.
4.Pot Size: Make sure your herbs aren’t outgrowing their pots. If the roots are cramped, they may not be getting enough nutrients or water.
5.Temperature: Herbs generally prefer a consistent temperature. Keep them away from cold drafts and hot spots like heaters.
6.Feeding: Herbs in pots can quickly deplete the soil of nutrients. Use a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser (like seaweed fertiliser or bokashi tea) every few weeks during the growing season.
Hopefully some of these tips have sparked some ideas? Don’t give up, give them another go and see how you get on. There’s always some trial and error with gardening but it’s so worth it when you start harvesting your produce 🙂
